Swansea’s cultural landscape has received a significant boost as the iconic Amphitheatre secures a place of honor within the Welsh Government’s £5 million Brilliant Basics Fund. Amidst a collection of 29 distinguished tourism infrastructure projects spanning various regions of Wales, the Swansea Amphitheatre Re-Development Project stands out as a testament to the city’s dedication to fostering engaging spaces. With a notable grant of £180,000, this endeavor is set to breathe new life into the beloved Amphitheatre.
Built around the time of the original LC in 1977, the amphitheatre once hosted live gigs, attracting hundreds of people to sit and enjoy live entertainment.
The new refurbishment project’s scope encompasses a sail-type roof, architectural lighting, and the integration of essential amenities like electric vehicle charging points.
